Food Bank of the Rockies Drive

CAR is proud to once again work with the Food Bank of the Rockies as this year’s Community Partner for the 2012 CAR Convention.

Food Bank of the Rockies (FBR) is the largest private hunger-relief organization in the state of Colorado. Founded in 1978, FBR began as the Colorado Food Clearing House. Today, FBR has extended its reach across Northern Colorado and Wyoming, providing food supplies to more than 1200 hunger-relief programs. Since 1978, FBR has provided nearly 431 million pounds of food to its member agencies, which translates to more than 336 million meals for people in need. Last year, they distributed 39.4 million pounds of food, enough to provide 84,000 meals each day to children, seniors and families in need. FBR has a staff of 98 employees at warehouses in Denver, Wyoming, and the Western Slope. Additionally FBR has a pool of more than 7900 volunteers who last year donated 102,000 hours of time – the equivalent of 49 full-time employees! As a highly efficient organization, FBR uses only about 4 cents of every dollar for administration while 96 cents of every dollar contributed goes towards food.
